Col. Ernest Pearson passes

It is with great sadness that I share that Col Ernest (Ernie) Pearson passed away this last week after a long illness.  I considered him as both a great friend and mentor and I am sure many of you did also.  He joined CAP as a cadet in the 1950s.  He left CAP for awhile but rejoined in the 1970s and was member of Bishop Composite Sq 66 and later Cable Comp Sq 25.  During his long CAP career he served as the Cable Comp Sq 25 Commander, Group 15 Commander, CAWG Safety Officer, CAWG Stan/Eval and CAWG Director of Cadet Programs.  In 1990 he became the CAWG Commander and moved wing HQ from the north to southern CA.  In 2000 and 2001 He was the Director for the National Staff College.  He served two terms as the Pacific Region Commander and served on a number of national committees.  Col Pearson was both a CFI and CFIG and was instrumental in establishing the CAWG High Altitude Flight Training School and was the director of the CAWG Glider Flight School.  Col Pearson’s awards include  the Gill Robb Wilson (number 553) and 8 Distinguished Service Awards.  PCR and CAWG were made better through his efforts and he will be missed.
